About this project
The project is located at the Thar Block-VI in the Sindh Province, right in the middle of the 12 planned mining areas with an estimated size of 67.18 km2. It is expected to build 4 sets of 350MW-supercritical circulating fluidized bed, 2 of which will be built in the first phase, expecting to generate 4.2 million tons of coal per year. The total amount of investment is USD 1.871 billion. In order to encourage coal-power integration, the Pakistani government guarantees an internal rate of 20% for the coal project, and 18% for the power plant. This project is a priority project in the energy sector of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, which also gains the attention of the British government. The British consulate expresses keen interests for the project, since it is the only "the Belt and Road Initiative" which includes a British company. It is on the list of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor projects.
