Italy - Open Fiber Italian Broadband Project Stake Sale (2020)

The deal involves stake sale of Open Fiber Italian Broadband Project by Enel which holds 50% stake in the project.

The project was launched in 2016 by Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP)-owned CDP Equity and Italian utility Enel which will involve 270 cities and 7,000 municipalities across Italy.

The geographic areas it covers have been divided into two clusters: one, which is being prioritised, is for financially viable zones due to the high density of the population; another is for low-density areas, also known as non-economically viable areas.
