Barru Regency is divided into 7 sub-districts which have 40 villages and 15 sub-districts, located ± 102 Km to the north of Makassar City, the capital of South Sulawesi. Geographically, Barru Regency is located at 4°00′ – 5°35′ South Latitude and 199°35′ – 119°49′ East Longitude. The topographies are diverse, ranging from hilly and mountainous areas containing huge potential of mining material to plain and coastal areas, with a large  potential of agriculture and marine. Barru Regency is a long coastal area. The coastline  reaches 78 km in length, making  it  the longest coastline region in South Sulawesi.
