Port of Gdansk handled 52,15 million tonnes and 2,07 mn TEU (Polish maritime record) 48.5% share in the Polish maritime market Ranked 2nd along the Baltic Sea in terms of the number of containers handled Ranked 4th among the largest ports on the Baltic Sea Ranked 15th among the European Sea Ports in 2019 The seaport of Gdansk has shown enormous growth of container traffic in the last 13 years: by around 2,040 percent. Such figures make Gdansk one of the most dynamic container harbor in Europe. With the fast-growing economy in Poland and its hinterland, Port Gdansk has a big room to grow. Gdansk’s unique location makes it the ideal gateway port to Central Eastern Europe and transshipment hub for the Baltic. Port of Gdansk has the best hinterland connections into Central and Eastern Europe reaching 120 million people. To drive growth further Port of Gdansk Authority together with Polish Government plans a giant new terminal complex, Euro Central Port. The plans for Euro Central Port include the construction of 9 terminals under the BOOT model. The extra space would be enough to double Gdansk's cargo volume from 50 million tonnes per year to 100 million tonnes per year. The current investments, and those planned such as the flagship project, the new Central Port, are to accelerate the container throughput to 7 mn TEU/per year.
