Building Nigeria’s Premier Tertiary Private Hospital
About this project
We propose to establish GenesisCare Medical City, a state-of-the-art, 500-bed private tertiary hospital located in either Lagos or Abuja. This full-spectrum facility will serve as Nigeria’s first comprehensive tertiary institution, delivering advanced care across key specialties—cardiology, oncology, orthopedics, neurosurgery, fertility, nephrology, and more. With an estimated capital requirement of $250 million, the project promises attractive returns (IRR: 18–22%), with a projected revenue of $75–100 million annually by year five and break-even expected within 5–6 years.
Nigeria’s healthcare system is overstretched and under-resourced:
• Less than 0.5 hospital beds per 1,000 people compared to the global average of 2.9.
• Chronic shortage of specialists, modern equipment, and critical infrastructure.
• Rising middle and upper classes are increasingly seeking quality healthcare within Africa or abroad.
• Health insurance coverage is expanding under recent NHIA reforms, creating a growing base of insured patients
