Production of renewable natural gas from the use of biogas from landfills.
项目简介
Renewable Natural Gas Production from Landfills in Brazil
This project aims to transform one of Brazil’s major environmental liabilities – landfill gas emissions – into a strategic source of renewable and competitive energy. Biogas generated from solid waste decomposition is primarily composed of methane, a greenhouse gas with over 20 times the climate impact of CO₂. By capturing and upgrading this resource, we produce biomethane (renewable natural gas) with quality equivalent to fossil natural gas, while achieving up to 99% emission reductions compared to fossil fuels such as diesel and natural gas.
Luming Inteligência Energética brings proven expertise in biogas and biomethane projects in Brazil, having developed solutions for Heineken, Coca-Cola, and Ambev. Our model integrates advanced technology, automation, and operational know-how, providing economic viability and scalability for sectors such as transportation, industry, and power generation.
Brazil’s potential is extraordinary: it is one of the largest countries in the world, with more than 200 million inhabitants and significant waste generation. However, less than 1.5% of the available biogas is currently utilized, even though studies indicate capacity for over 400 production plants in the coming years. The country offers unique conditions – abundant feedstock, decarbonization policies, and growing demand for renewable gas – creating a singular opportunity for investors aligned with energy transition and ESG goals.
Our goal is to scale projects in strategic landfills through partnerships for investment, technology development, and offtake agreements, contributing to carbon neutrality, sustainable development, and long-term financial returns.
