Establishment of Surigao del Sur Coffee Processing and Exchange Hub

The proposed project entails the establishment of a centralized Coffee Processing and Exchange Hub (SSURCOPEX) in Surigao del Sur, strategically located in the municipalities of Tagbina and Bislig. The hub will function as the province’s primary consolidation and trading center, integrating modern post-harvest and processing facilities, standardized grading and quality assurance systems, and a digital platform for transparent transactions.  By providing a structured mechanism for aggregation, processing, and marketing, the hub will directly connect farmers to buyers, processors, and exporters, thereby reducing dependence on intermediaries and improving farmgate prices. It will also serve as a venue for training, cooperative development, and branding initiatives, strengthening the competitiveness of Surigao del Sur coffee in both domestic and international markets.  Beyond its economic role, SSURCOPEX is envisioned as a catalyst for **farmer empowerment, local enterprise growth,** **and agri-tourism development,** positioning Surigao del Sur as Caraga’s premier coffee hub and an emerging origin in the Philippine and global coffee industry. The project will leverage public-private partnership arrangements to mobilize financing, technical expertise, and modern facility management, ensuring sustainability and long-term impact.
