On 17 November 2015, the Fujian Provincial People's Government issued the Fujian Province Construction Plan for the Core Area of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road. The plan highlighted the province's advantages in relation to overseas Chinese resources, as well as the close Fujian-Taiwan ties, while further detailing its established coastal ports and thriving private sector. These advantages, coupled with the national “going out” and “bringing in” strategy, are expected to help promote Fujian’s international exchange initiatives, as well as to facilitate greater cooperation with the countries along the Maritime Silk Road. They are also expected to expedite the pace of the province’s own socio-economic development.
