Belt and Road Vision and Actions on Jointly Promoting Certification and Accreditation Services
09 Jun 2015

The Certification and Accreditation Administration of China published its Belt and Road Vision and Actions for Jointly Promoting Certification and Accreditation Services in June 2015. This was intended to actively advance the process of co-operation and mutual recognition with regards to appropriate certification and accreditation for the Belt and Road Initiative, increase the transparency of technical trade measures and raise the overall level of trade liberalisation and facilitation. Among the priorities identified were establishing a mechanism of information exchange that covers all aspects of certification and accreditation, increasing the transparency of technical trade measures and promoting the international mutual recognition of certification and accreditation. The proposal also looked to accelerate the process of the bilateral and multilateral mutual recognition of certification and accreditation, while promoting the international mutual recognition of certification, accreditation, inspection and quarantine. It is hoped that, ultimately, this will lead to the adoption of one standard and one certificate that will be recognised and accepted across the whole region.
