The Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) is a government-owned and controlled corporation that was created by virtue of Republic Act No. 9593, otherwise known as the Tourism Act of 2009. It is the government agency tasked to develop and manage tourism infrastructure projects in the Philippines. As the Philippine government’s Investment Promotion Agency for the tourism industry, TIEZA is mandated to designate, regulate and supervise Tourism Enterprise Zones (TEZs) and to encourage investments therein by promoting the growth of tourism enterprises in the country. Aligned with the National Tourism Development Plan of the Philippines, TEZs are envisioned to be catalyst of socio-economic growth. They are infused with support infrastructure projects from the government to ensure the development of sustainable tourism. The objective of the TEZs is to provide the necessary vehicle to coordinate actions of the public and private sectors to address development barriers, and attract investments on specific geographical areas to upgrade product and service equality.
