The project involves the development of luxury accommodation, shopping mall, office park and tourist facilities.

The project requires funding for Hotel and shopping mall development as part of the mixed-use development, which is located in the Durban Point Precinct, and will include a five-star 350-room hotel, with access to a shopping centre, public beach, safe swimming, learner surfing, snorkelling zone, promenade, green amphitheatre and other water-based activities. The overall Precinct worth R35 million includes hotels, residential apartments, office park and retail development. It is on a 55ha site neighbouring Durban Harbour.

A partner investor is required for the hotel and shopping mall developments. Approximately ZAR 550 million has been invested in the project to date, including infrastructures. Durban Point Development Company ("DPDC") is the master developer of the Durban Point Waterfront Development. DPDC is a 50:50 joint venture between the eThekwini Municipality and ROC Point (Pty) Ltd (majority owned by UEM Sunrise Berhad). UEM Sunrise is a Malaysian based property developmet company with vast experience and proven track recordthe in delivering state-of-art modern and luxury high-rise properties and township development.
