Hong Kong’s position as a financial centre and its significant double taxation agreement networks set it up as the “perfect place” to start East Asian operations, says Robert Welzel, directing the Hong Kong arm of global tax and business consulting network, WTS Alliance. With China’s Belt and Road Initiative seeing greater intra-regional business, he expects an increase of consulting work, with Hong Kong playing a co-ordinating role.
